The Lowell Showboat at Christmas

The Lowell Showboat is a great historic landmark in our town. It's what Lowell is known for. But at Christmas, it turns into something magical...

The Showboat is anchored on the Flat River year round. The riverwalk is a great place to sit for a spell, enjoy a concert during the summer months, or just spend some time feeding the ducks (my kids' favorite activity there).

But during December, when the river is snow-covered and the town is decked out in Christmas lights and merriment, the Showboat becomes the place to be to see the jolly old man himself!

It can get pretty cold, so be sure to dress warm. And bring your letter for Santa, too. You can mail it directly to the North Pole in this Santa mailbox...

Once you step onto the historical boat, you'll be greeted by a ceiling of greenery and lights...

And, when you finally make it inside the Santa Room (where it's toasty and warm), you'll find all kinds of pretty decorations straight from the North Pole!

There are more elves here than you can count! They like to keep Santa company!

The windows are trimmed with greenery and peppermints...

And gingerbread people, too!

And, of course, there's a toy train set...

It's almost time to visit the man himself...

But don't forget to sign your name in the Santa Guest book first!

Then it's time to talk with Santa and sit in his big wooden chair! Lowell has the best Santa!

After your visit, go through what my kids' called the elf door...

And make your way upstairs for hot cocoa and cookies...

And, of course, pet the reindeer on your way out!
